Nora Damukaitis

Nora J. (Martin) Damukaitis, 98, of Mount Vernon, Indiana passed away Friday August 22, 2014. She was born May 1, 1916, in Smoke Run, Pennsylvania to Isaac and Hannah Martin.

She lived most of her life in Thompson, Ohio before moving to Indiana in 2002. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with family.

She is survived by her son Anthony Damukaitis and wife Christine of Chardon, Ohio; daughter Patricia Alvarez of El Sobrante, California; daughter Katherine Bartlett and husband Kim of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; 8 grandchildren, Anthony Damukaitis, Heather Oakes, Carl Damukaitis, Stephanie Alvarez, Kelley Cook (Ray), Gabriel Walker, Kristen Turner (Louis) and Kevin Bartlett, 5 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, 1 sister-in law, Christine Martin of Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband Anthony Damukaitis, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.

Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chardon, Ohio with burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Nora at the DeJohn Funeral Home of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro) 126 South St. (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) on Thursday August 28 from 5-8pm.
