Noah Gabriel Bernhardt

NOAH GABRIEL BERNHARDT, cherished son of Jacob Timothy and Joanna Kay Joy (nee Garreau) Bernhardt; dearest brother of Frederic James; beloved grandson of Kay and Pierre-Philippe Garreau, and Sharon and Mark Bernhardt; great-grandson of Kurt and Adonna Bernhardt, and Henry Dykstra; dear nephew of 16 aunts and uncles; cousin of 24.

Noah Gabriel Bernhardt was born on October 16, 2021. Our only prayer was to meet him alive, and his tiny yell when he was born was the sweetest sound. God gave Noah 42 beautiful days on earth, and every one of those days is a testimony to Noah’s fighting spirit. Noah was beloved by all who met him; family, friends, nurses, and doctors. He had a little personality full of funny faces, and special quirks. He loved looking at lights, and he always got mad before it was time to eat. All the nurses knew that “Noah gets hangry, and he needs to be fed on time!” He loved snuggles with Mommy and Daddy, and he loved being wrapped in soft clothes and blankets. One of his favorite things was when we would gently stroke his head. Noah had adorable smiles, a beautiful head full of hair, and the softest skin imaginable. He fought so hard—overcoming birth, surgery, coming off the ventilator, and many other challenges—and made it home to meet Freddie. But every day was a struggle, and it was with great peace that we held him on Friday morning, November 26, 2021, and watched his struggle end. We know that Noah is now perfectly healed, and perfectly safe in Jesus’ arms. He will not come to us, but we shall go to him.
