Nancy J. Weeks, born on October 22, 1970 in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Charles F. Brush High School and went on to obtain an Associate’s Degree from Lakeland Community College. Until December of 2015 Nancy enjoyed an independent life in Willoughby, Ohio and a career with Penske Logistics. She loved tennis, books, politics, on-line shopping, and country music. Her penchant for good craft beer was abandoned for a love of fine French wine after a trip she made to Paris, France! She achieved what Maslow termed ‘Self Actualization’ in his Hierarchy of Human Needs. Those who know Nancy also know she arrived at this Self Actualization a little late, yet as we all hope to get there before we die – she did. Nancy’s realization that happiness begins within was late but refreshing. Her family was as thrilled as surprised that she decided to go to Paris alone. Equally so when she decided to travel to see Tennis matches on her own, and then they realized she had truly found an independent life.
‘Nancy is complicated . . .’ is what her family heard repeatedly between December and May from all her Doctors, including the best Doctors in the world at the Cleveland Clinic. Complications of the disease Lupus brought her to the ER on Christmas Eve 2015 and eventually took her in her sleep in the early morning of May 19th. Nancy had been ‘complicated’ since diagnosed with Lupus/Antiphospholipid Syndrome many years ago. Lupus is misunderstood and while known as a disease since 1833, mysterious to the medical field as to its causes or effective treatments. These unknowns compel Nancy’s family to request that you consider donations in Nancy’s name to research and improve the understanding of lesser known diseases such as Lupus.
The family offers their thanks to the; Surgeons, Doctors, Interns, Nurses, EMS, Nurses Aids, Technicians at Lake West Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, University Hospital and Heather Hill. The list is in fact hundreds of names long. With special appreciation extended to all the staff working the Holidays.
Nancy’s sense of humor, sarcasm, debate over political opinions and laughter will be missed at the family Game Nights. She will be missed by her father Robert (Doris) Weeks, loving sister of Rob Weeks and Sue (Kevin) Tager; devoted Aunt of Christopher and Marissa Weeks. Our family asks, in lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s name be made to The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter, 12930 Chippewa Road, Brecksville, Ohio 44141. Off.
