Milton Joseph Kadlec, Sr.

MILTON JOSEPH KADLEC SR., aged 91 years, beloved husband for 69 years to the late Marilyn (nee Wertz), dear father of Robert, Milton J. Jr. (wife Josie), Joseph, Elizabeth and Julia Kadlec-Wagner, loving grandfather of 4, fond brother of the late Antoinette Lutrell, Richard and Eugene. Mr. Kadlec was a Marine Corps Veteran, an Illinois State University Football Hall of Fame inductee, a retired Euclid High School teacher and coach, and a gifted wood-carver.

Mr. Kadlec passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at his residence in South Euclid. Milton was born on January 19, 1928 in Berwyn, Illinois, the son of the late Anton and Julia (nee Kalina) Kadlec. He received his B.A. degree from Illinois State University, where he met his beautiful wife Marilyn Martina Wertz. They were married on February 9, 1952. Together they raised their 5 children.

Milton was a true Renaissance Man, a gifted athlete in his prime (known as “Moving Milt”), and in 1972, was inducted into the Illinois State Athletics Percy Hall of Fame for baseball and football. He was a four-time letterman in football, and a two-time letterman in baseball.

Milton served in the United States Marine Corps for two years (1951 – 1953). He taught Industrial Arts at Euclid High School in Euclid, Ohio for 29 years. At Euclid High School, he also coached cross country, track and football. Milton was a talented wood carver, furniture designer, wonderful artisanal, gourmet cook, and a jazz aficionado for 5 decades.

Funeral service Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 2 PM at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just East of Green Rd.) where friends may call SATURDAY 12 NOON UNTIL TIME OF SERVICE.
