Michael Walker, Sr.

MICHAEL J. WALKER, SR., aged 79 years, beloved husband for 52 years to the late Rachael Jean (nee Buettner), dear father of Michael J. Jr. (wife Sharon), Dail Ann Ciani (husband Michael), Maribeth Linsky (husband Dennis) and Daniel (wife Lori), loving grandfather of Michael, Steven (deceased), Alexandra and Kristen Walker, Matthew and Nico Ciani, and Madeline, Olivia and Megan Linsky, fond great-grandfather of Amelia, Steven and Eli, devoted brother of James (wife Donna), cherished uncle and great-uncle to many. Mr. Walker was born on October 16, 1937 in Detroit, MI, and passed away July 19, 2017 at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland. He was a 56-year resident of Mayfield Heights, and for the same number of years, a member of St. Clare Catholic Church.

Michael was a United States Marine Corps Veteran. He was a graduate of Cathedral Latin High School, a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a Marine Corps honor guard. He worked at Carlings brewery until they closed, and then was employed as a security officer at General Electric Nela Park plant, retiring in 1999 after 37 years of faithful service.

He enjoyed flying model airplanes, camping, and spending time with his children and grand-children. He enjoyed listening to Johnny Mathis, Dean Martin, Elvis, Frank Sinatra and big band music. He was a “mall walker”, enjoying those walks with friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, the holidays with loved ones, cook-outs and watching the Cleveland Indians. He was easy-going, honest, loyal, caring, hard-working, a dedicated husband and father, and a friend to all.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, July 24, 2017, at St. Clare Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Burial following with military honors in All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Michael at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just East of Green Rd.) SUNDAY 2-6 PM.
