MICHAEL G. SHEAHAN, MD, age 76, passed away on May 6, 2019. Beloved husband for 54 years of Patricia (nee Petrime); loving father of Corrie Taylor (husband Douglas), Christopher (wife Megan), and the late Daniel; devoted grandfather of Addison, Danielle and Zinnia; dearest brother of Eileen Shanbrom (husband Ronald) and the late Thomas (wife Judi).
He graduated from Hamilton College in 1965, Case-Western Reserve Medical School in 1969, and completed his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at University Hospitals of Cleveland. Michael practiced medicine for 30 years at UH Suburban Health Center, and served 6 years as Medical Director of QualChoice Health Plan. He served as a Founding and Medical Advisory Board Member for the Lupus Foundation of America, NEO Chapter; Vice-President and Cleveland Branch Chairman NEO Chapter Arthritis Foundation; and served in various roles for the Cleveland Rheumatism Association, American College of Rheumatology, and Cleveland Academy of Medicine. He was awarded Arthritis Foundation President’s Award for Distinguished Service, 1987; Arthritis Foundation Lee C. Howley Volunteer Award, 1988; Top Docs: Cleveland Magazine 2002, 2004, 2006; and Mayfield High School Hall of Fame, Class 1961. Michael enjoyed fishing, being a Scoutmaster, traveling, running and playing tennis.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Michael at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD (just east of Green Rd). SUNDAY 3-7 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, May 13, 2019 at 10 AM at The DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home. Burial following at Whitehaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
