Michael Marhefka, Sr.

Michael A. Marhefka Sr, age 95, of Wickliffe, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, March 1, 2021. Michael was born on December 23, 1925 in Everson, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Sophia (nee Gonda) Marhefka.

Michael was devoted to his wife and children, and cared for those close to him and will forever be remembered for being a hardworking, gentle, loving and caring man. Michael was an ingenious tinkerer, who could build almost anything with materials at hand, and was forever a kid at heart.

Michael served in the Army’s 58^th Armored Infantry Battalion 8^th Armored Division from 1942 thru 1945, and was awarded a Purple Heart.

Michael is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth (Loncharic); children, Michael Jr. (Kim), Paul (Linda), Michelle (Tom) Kmetich; six grandchildren, Adrian (AJ) Piazza, Kevin Marhefka, Logan (Antonella) Marhefka, Jennifer Kmetich, Tommy (Rachel) Kmetich, and Nadia Kmetich; three great-grandchildren, Cooper and Callie Piazza, and Lily Kmetich; and will be sadly missed by his extended family and close friends of the family.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am., Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at DEJOHN FUNERAL HOME, 28890 Chardon Rd., Willoughby Hills, OH 44092.

A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 29850 Euclid Ave, Wickliffe, OH 44092.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in his memory. Cremation to follow with burial at a later date.
