MICHAEL S. KEMP, age 53, died suddenly at his home July 1, 2011; beloved son of Rose (nee Oravecz) and the late Stanley; cherished brother of Katherine Ventura (husband Richard), Mary Beth Baxley (husband William) and Carolyn Namciu; devoted and adored uncle of Meghan & Andrew Ventura, Rosie & Alyssa Baxley, and Johnny & twins Juliana and Lauren Namciu; dearest nephew, cousin and friend of many. Michael was serving as a Firefighter for the City of Cleveland Station #30 just having completed his 30th year of service on June 2, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Divine Word Catholic Church, 8100 Eagle Rd., Kirtland. Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery. The family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Michael at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) on TUESDAY from 2:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Michael was born on April 7, 1958 in Cleveland. He was a 35 year resident of Kirtland, previously residing in Euclid. Michael was very devoted to his family and especially loved his nieces and nephews.
Michael enjoyed hiking, walking, reading, art, growing tomatoes, and especially helping out his Mom. He also was a fan of Star Trek and all kinds of different music. His family describes him as being generous with gifts for his family as well as his time – he would always cover for a fellow firefighter; he had a heart of gold and was soft-spoken and gentle.
