MARY D. SCHMIDT (nee McGuire) age 88. Beloved mother of Sharon L. Jensen. Cherished daughter of the late Gilbert and Nellie P. (nee Penny) McGuire. Dearest sister of Donna Stephen (husband Don) and Esther Bivens. Loving aunt of 12, great-aunt and great-great-aunt of many. Prayers of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Tom Dragga is officiating at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91). Burial will follow at Whitehaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Mary at the funeral home WEDNESDAY MORNING FROM 10:00-11:00 AM.

Mary graduated from Lake Erie College and received her masters from Western Reserve University. She was a member and past president of Sigma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. Mary retired from Euclid City Schools as a teacher in 1986 and also taught at Reynolds School in Mentor and was a secretary at Willoughby-Eastlake Board of Education.

Mary loved to needle point and knit. She also loved playing pinochle and traveling. Mary’s daughter remembers her as someone who was eager to see what was around the corner and always ready for the next adventure or the next new chapter.
