Mary (Russo) Platia, 91, of Willoughby Hills, passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, surrounded by her family.
Born Nov. 13, 1921, in Wickliffe, she had been a longtime resident of Mayfield Heights for 40 years. Mary was a devoted wife and loved her family. She enjoyed baking and cooking.
She leaves behind her adoring husband, Charles George Platia Jr. of Willoughby Hills; and son, Charles M. (Mary Lou) Platia of Willoughby Hills. She was the caring grandmother of Charlie (Melissa) Platia Jr. and Michelle (Christopher) Kytta; great-grandmother of Zachary, Charlie III, Milania and Christian; and sister of Daniel Russo and Theresa Baratta.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Maria Russo; brothers, Phillip and Alfred Russo; and sister, Lucy Sterling.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Church, 37932 Euclid Ave., Willoughby. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at The DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home, 28890 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills.
