Penko, Carol MacDonald (husband Ross), Mark, Donna Gentile (husband Nicholas), John, and Laura Twyman (husband Robin); devoted grandmother of 19 and great-grandmother of 4; cherished daughter of the late Fred A. and Ethel L. (nee Griff) Wolf; dearest sister of Griff Wolf (wife Margaret) and the late Fred and Donald (wife Patricia) Wolf and Frances Zgrabik (husband Raymond); dear aunt and great-aunt of many.
Mary Lou was born on March 3, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away peacefully at home on July 28, 2021 with family by her side. She was a resident of Chesterland, Kirtland, Chardon and recently moved to Mentor. Strong in her faith, she was a devoted and active member of Divine Word Catholic Church, in Kirtland, Ohio, for over 30 years, where she previously served as Vice President and Treasurer for the Ladies Guild. Mary Lou was honored by the Guild as a Madonna Award recipient. After graduating from Glenville High School in 1954 she continued her education at Ohio University. She worked and retired from Hillcrest Hospital after 30 years, and was proud to say she was there on it’s very first day. Within those years she enjoyed working as a switchboard operator and working in the Admissions and I.T. Departments. In her free time, she looked forward to traveling, collecting Swarovski crystals, and listening to country music. Life was best when spent with her family. She loved going on family vacations with her entire family and watching her grandchildren. Her husband Bob, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest gifts in her life. The matriarch of the Hanslik family will be remembered as a generous, loving, caring, always devoted to family & faith, and saying the Rosary daily. She will forever be missed.
