Mary “Kay” Roddy

MARY CATHERINE “MARY KAY” RODDY (nee McDonnell) age 87, beloved wife of the late John “Jack”; loving mother of Catherine Roddy (husband Glenn Pisani), Jack, Michael, Patricia Roddy, James (wife Margrit, deceased), Brian (wife Monica), Kevin (wife Lisa) and the late Joseph; devoted grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 5; cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (nee McCarthy) McDonnell; dearest sister of Joan Coughlin (husband John), Dolores Ritt (husband John, deceased) and the late Nancy Morgan (husband Charles, deceased) and Kathy Koenig (husband Brian); dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Mary was born on November 9, 1931 and passed away peacefully on May 19, 2019. She grew up in Cleveland Heights and later moved to Mayfield Heights. Mary was a parishioner of St. Francis and previously St. Louis. She graduated from Beaumont in 1949. Mary was the owner and operator of her own home health care. She truly enjoyed going to the Eastside Irish American Club. She was very giving and was the best babysitter for her grandchildren. Mary loved to travel, listen to Irish music and watch the Indians, Cavs and Browns. She especially loved following her grandkid’s sports. Mary was friendly, social and loyal; everyone loved her. She will be remembered most as a selfless, faithful women with a funny and witty sense of humor. Mary will be forever missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Friday May 24, 2019 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 11:30AM. Burial following at All Souls. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Mary Kay at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) THURSDAY 5-8PM.
