Mary Formichelli

MARY FORMICHELLI (nee FERRANDO) age 86, beloved wife for 64 years of Mario; loving mother of Paolo (wife Tina), Franco (wife Lisa), Daniele (wife Allison), and the late Mario Jr (wife Anne); devoted grandmother of Alexandra (husband Connor), Mario III (wife Marissa), Cristina, Marco, Anthony, Mia, and Olivia; cherished daughter of the late Attilio and Pasqualina (nee Lille) Ferrando; dearest sister of Isler Ferrando (wife Maria) and the late Anna Ianiro (husband Michele); dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Mary was born November 13, 1938, in Forlì del Sannio, Italy. She immigrated to the United States in 1954 at the age of 15. She and Mario married in Pompeii in 1960. Mary was happiest surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Sunday meant one thing: Nonna's. Her pasta dinners were famous to all who knew her, and it was a privilege to fill one of those seats. Mary hosted every holiday, where hours were spent around the table laughing and recounting stories of her childhood in Italy. She enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden, traveling, and being a member of the Forlì del Sannio Social Club. Mary will be remembered as a beloved nonna who took immense pride in the close-knit and fiercely loyal family she created.

Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at St Anselm Catholic Church, 12969 Chillicothe Rd, Chesterland, OH 44026 at 10 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Mary at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) TUESDAY, February 18, 2025, 4 - 8 PM.
