MARTIN A. BITNER, aged 70 years, beloved husband for 42 years to Linda (nee Kortan), dear father of Martin A. Jr. (wife Lissa) and Anne Bitner, loving grandfather and like a father to Faith Rivera-Bitner and grandfather of Sofia Rivera-Bitner, Bruno and Nico Bitner, cherished brother of Gail Shirley, Alberta Manzi, Beverly Case, Paul, and the late Barbara Winzer, devoted uncle, great-uncle and generous friend to many. United States Navy Veteran.
Martin was a trustee of Immanuel Lutheran Church, playing in the bell choir. He was also a member of the German Men’s Choir and treasurer of Cleveland Maenner Chor. His working life included painting and wallpapering, as well as a career in electrical engineering. He enjoyed genealogy, speaking German, model trains, biking (completed Pedal to the Point twice) and playing the piano. Martin was known for his great sense of humor. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Martin suggested to his daughter Anne’s orphanage in Haiti: Waters of Grace, P.O. Box 1946, Sedalia, MO 65301 (NOTE – on memo line Faith Orphanage).
Relatives and friends are requested to meet for the Funeral Services Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2928 Scranton Rd., Cleveland (44113) at 10 AM. Burial following with Military Honors in Lake View Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Martin at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just East of Green Rd.) FRIDAY 4-8 PM.
