Mark Gualtiere

MARK GUALTIERE age 72, beloved husband for 51 years of Cynthia (nee Palas); loving father of Anthony and the late Jennifer Rowland (Adam); devoted grandfather of Katie and Nathan; cherished son of the late Paul Sr. and Marcella (nee Silvestri); dearest brother of Paul Jr. (Shirley) and Donna; dear uncle of  Brian, David (Laura), Heather (Greg) Hite, and Kristi (Bill) Merryman, Paula Collabro (Derrick), Melissa, and Jessica Marich and great-uncle to Brittany, Bill, Lucas, Alexander, Connor, Ethan, and Ashley; treasured nephew of Virginia Collova and Joanne Silvestri and many others deceased; brother-in-law of Linda Marich (Clifford).

Mark was born in Garfield Heights, Ohio in 1951 and passed away peacefully on November 15th, 2023, with Cynthia by his side after a short aggressive battle with cancer. Mark was a 1970 graduate of Garfield High School and married the love of his life Cynthia in 1972. Their family lived in Medina for 36 years and spent the last 10 years living in Newbury. Mark retired from Ford Motor Company after dedicating over 40 years as a Master Mechanic and Maintenance Supervisor. When Mark was not working at Ford, you could find him in his garage fixing cars, building dragsters or finishing a project in his and Cynthia’s home. Mark was an avid NASCAR and drag racing fan. There was never a time that his TV did not display a race. He also loved reading, history and old movies. Mark played the drums in a high-school band “The Showmen” and loved Motown, Opera and the Rat-Pack.

Later in life, Mark became an excellent cook and baker and was famous for his creampuffs. Mark’s family would describe him as stubborn, hard-headed, mischievous and as a child, a regular visitor to the ER. He most especially had a big heart, was funny and was a great singer and dancer. He found the most joy in life spending time with his grandkids and taking cars apart then putting them back together. Mark will be missed by all those who loved him. He has gone onto “the big dragstrip in the sky.”
