Marjorie Lamprecht

January 29, 1925 — August 7, 2024

Marjorie Catherine Lamprecht (nee Stiles) was born in Kansas City, Mo. on January 29, 1925, to Harold E. Stiles and Elizabeth Green Stiles. When she was five, her family moved to Oak Park, a suburb of Chicago. After high school, Marjorie attended Purdue University where she quickly met the love of her life, John W. Lamprecht (Jack), who was in the Naval Officer Training Program. After he graduated, they were married on May 26, 1945, in Oak Park. It was a loving partnership that lasted for 72 years until his death in 2016. After being a naval bride, they moved to Cleveland, Ohio and for a brief period Greenville, SC. They had three children, J. Lee Lamprecht, Susan Gay L. Lepp and W. Dan Lamprecht (Joan). She is known as Kitty to her five grandsons and five great grandchildren.

Marjorie and her husband were avid boaters and after retirement they lived aboard a Grand Banks trawler. Together, they both became certified Coast Guard captains and completed the Great Loop, circumnavigating the eastern US. After their boating life, they were year-round residents of Chautauqua, NY. Marjorie and her entire family spent many summers on the institution grounds, enjoying the lake and numerous programs, art and study classes.

Marjorie graduated from Baldwin Wallace University, majoring in art. She enjoyed exploring her genealogical roots and many collections including postcards, dolls and ceramics. Marjorie had a sweet tooth and loved all things chocolate. She completed an autobiography of her life entitled "White Picket Fence".

Her wonderful smile, laughter and devotion to her husband and family will be missed.

There will be a private family graveside service at Lake View Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS.
