Marion B. Amato, age 79, died June 7, 2016,  beloved husband of 57 years to Mary Grace (nee Palmieri); loving father of Lisa M. Bouffard (husband Dean), Christopher J. (husband Jorge) and James R. (wife Mary Jennifer); devoted grandfather “Papa” of Nicholas Ricco (wife Melissa), Bryan Ricco and Samantha Enneper (husband Philip) and Reagan, Jonathan and Logan Amato  and great grandfather of Evelyn L. Ricco; cherished son of the late Marion and Lena (nee Ranier); dearest brother of Teresa Colecchio (husband Salvatore); fond brother-in-law of Paschal J. Palmieri, Irene South, Francine Switzer (husband Jerry), John Palmieri (wife Sheila), Elena Kastelic (husband Rudolph), Anthony G. Palmieri (wife Kathy), Jeanne M. Reiman (husband Charles) and the late Phyllis Palmieri, and Donna Bergstrom (husband Wayne, deceased); dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend of many.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio.  Long time resident of Shaker Heights and Highland Heights, Ohio.  Graduate of Cathedral Latin High School, John Carroll University, and Western Reserve University Law School, all of Cleveland, Ohio.  Founded his own law firm Marion B. Amato, Co., LPA, admitted and qualified as an Attorney and Counselor of the Supreme Court of the United States of America and the Supreme Court of Ohio.  Honored as a “ Stalwart “ of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and received recognition by the Ohio State Bar Association  for 50 years of service.  Avid sportsman and golfer, belonging to the Cleveland Athletic Club, the Club at Key Center and the Acacia Country Club.  Avid hunter and longtime member of Ducks Unlimited.  Every year in the late Autumn, Marion and his friends would travel to the western United States, to hunt Mule Deer, Antelope and Elk on horseback.  In the spring-time there was much bird shooting in Ohio and hunting for Wild Boar in Tennessee .  He and his friends always brought home the wild game, which all families would eat.  Memories were recalled by numerous hunting stories Marion told, photo albums and trophy’s on the walls of his den.  He enjoyed riding horses so much that he owned an Appaloosa that he named “ Sweet Medicine.”  Marion loved a variety of music and played the drums in a band in high school and college.  He also played the piano.  He was a serious reader and it was his intention to learn about the complexities of life through the printed word.  Charity for the Native Americans, the homeless and disadvantaged was a top priority for Marion.  Devoted Christian and longtime parishioner at the Church of the Gesu and St. Paschal Baylon Church.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, June 11, 2016 at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church at 12 Noon. Entombment following at Lake View Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Marion at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) FRIDAY 4-8 PM.
