MARIANNE CHERRIE (nee Dretzka), beloved wife for 69 years of the late James; loving mother of Kate Cherrie Strazisar (husband Tony), Tim (wife Miriam), Christopher (wife Janice) and Amy Cherrie Slaby (husband Jeffrey); devoted grandmother of Geoff Strazisar, Lauren Strazisar Lepa (Chris), Leah Strazisar Cusick (Dan), Chrysta Cherrie-Heaney (Greg), Jarrod and Christian Cherrie, and Trevor Slaby; cherished daughter of the late Jerome and Elynor (nee Kleineider) Dretzka; dearest sister of Hubert and the late Roland, and Kenneth Dretzka, Lenore Dretzka-Fluyeras and Jerome Dretzka; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.
Marianne was born on May 16, 1921 and passed away on November 11, 2017. She was born and educated in Wisconsin, attending Marquette University as a journalism major. She was a 25-year resident of Highland Heights and previously lived in Euclid. A loving mother and homemaker, her career was raising a successful family. She loved celebrating holidays, birthdays, and milestones as a family. Seeing her close bond with her own parents, brothers and sister set a strong example. Her legacy is one of love.
Marianne was an active parishioner of St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church where she enjoyed being a member of the welcoming committee. She also dedicated herself to working in the community volunteering for Girl Scouts and other school activities, the Red Cross, and the Cleveland Convention and Visitors Bureau. Marianne loved the arts and creative pursuits such as sewing, decorating, and fashion. She enjoyed learning and was an avid reader who engaged in lively discussions of current events. Marianne loved socializing, and was positive, young at heart, and spirited. She will be dearly missed.

Cremation by DeJohn Crematory Mass of Christian Burial Saturday November 18, 2017 at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church 175 E. 200th St Euclid, OH 44119. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Marianne at THE CHURCH SATURDAY MORNING 10 – 11 AM.
