Maria Mudzyn

Mass of Christian Burial for Maria Mudzyn, 88, will be on Monday, December 16, 2013 at 11:30 AM at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North Street, Chardon. Maria Mudzyn (nee Zacierka) passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Briar Hill Health Care Residence.

Maria was born in Slobuolka, Poland on June 22, 1925. She married her husband, Stanley Mudzyn, January 14, 1950 in Erlangen, Germany shortly before they immigrated to the United States. A 63-year resident of Chardon, Ohio, Mrs. Mudzyn was a cook at Ingleside Hospital (Heather Hill), Chardon Lakes Inn, the Plaza Restaurant, and the Galley Restaurant in Middlefield, Ohio, which she and her husband owned and operated. She had also worked at and retired from Sanborn Plastics in Chardon.

Survivors are her daughter Bernie (John) Greaves of Chardon; sons John of Phoenix AZ and Steve (Sharma) of Concord Twp. She was a loving grandmother to Molly (Mike) Douglass of Munson, Sara Greaves of Cuyahoga Falls, Rachel “Rae” Greaves of Chardon, Nickolas Mudzyn of Columbus, and Daniel Mudzyn of Concord Township. She was also a loving Babcia to great-grandsons Mason and Mack Douglass of Munson.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stanley, in 2008, her parents Paul and Barbara (nee Bojko) Zacierka, and a brother and sister.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Maria at The DeJohn Funeral Home & Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro) 126 South St. (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Sunday 3 to 7 p.m. Burial will follow the Mass in Chardon Cemetery.
