Margaret Koch

Margaret I. Koch, 94, of Bay Village, entered into eternal life, Tuesday, February 14, 2017.

Margaret was born December 5, 1922 in Cleveland, OH to the late Elmer Charles Allen and the former Margaret A. Foose.  She lived in Rocky River, Delaware, OH and Avon Lake. Margaret graduated from Rocky River High School in 1941.  After high school she became a professional dancer and also worked as a bookkeeper. Margaret met her late husband Ralph F. Koch in Cleveland and they were married at the Old Stone Church on May 26, 1945. Ralph died on November 20, 2000.

With her husband Ralph, Margaret traveled extensively around the United States in their recreational vehicle. She was an avid golfer and loved to fish and boat on Catawba Island where she had a summer home. Margaret also enjoyed arts, crafts, and embroidering. In addition to these activities, Margaret loved to entertain people at her home where she loved to bake. While Margaret was ill and confined to a medical facility, she asked her nurses on several occasions for a gin martini with three olives. Obviously she was very fond of this drink. Margaret’s family described her as a sweet, gentle, kind and generous person.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Carol L. Rabb (husband William deceased); grandchildren Ed Rabb (wife Roda), Chrissy Rose (husband Jim), and great-grandchildren Justin Rabb, Makenna and Parker Rose; Brother Thomas E. Allen (wife Shirley deceased) and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her grandson William T. and sisters Violet Olah (husband Joseph) and Eileen Penthey.

Contributions may be made in Margaret’s memory to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, ASPCA Gift Processing Center, PO Box 96929, Washington, DC 20077-7127 www.aspca.org.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.  Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Arrangements by THE DeJOHN Funeral Home & Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro).
