Margaret Hertrick

Margaret C. Hertrick, age 87, a 58 year resident of Mayfield Heights, OH entered into eternal life on January 18, 2018.

Margaret was born July 25, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Stanley W. and Margaret (nee Cashman) Close. Margaret graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in East Cleveland in 1949 and from Dyke College in 1951 as a medical secretary.

Margaret was a member of the Catholic Young Men and Women’s Club where she met her husband Eugene “Gene” and they married October 23, 1954. Margaret worked as a medical secretary for the Cleveland Clinic until she started her family.

Margaret belonged to the Mayfield Heights Golden Age Club, Moose Club, and the Eastside Irish American Club. She enjoyed ballroom and ice dancing with her husband, taking great pride in her Irish heritage, and traveling on cruises and to New York City. Although she preferred the city, she enjoyed camping with her family at Camp Christopher in Bath, Ohio. For many years, Margaret also enjoyed getting together with her high school friends once a month to go out to dinner.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 63 years Gene; children Stephen (wife Kelly) and Barbara Hertrick, both of Geneva, OH; grandchildren Hallie and Joseph Hertrick; her cousin Marilyn Braudrick; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. Margaret will always cherish her many canines for their faithful companionship.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Clare Catholic Church, 5659 Mayfield Rd, Lyndhurst, OH 44124 . The family will receive friends immediately following Mass at the Ross C. DeJohn Community Center, 6306 Marsol Road.in Mayfield Hts. Burial will be private at Calvary Cemetery.
