Lucille A. “Lucy” Amodeo (nee Panzica) age 87, beloved wife for 65 years of Thomas; loving mother of Mary Macko, Tom, Bob, and Cathleen Birli (husband Joe); devoted grandmother of Jason Macko (wife Michelle), Catie Montagna (husband Anthony), Joe Birli (wife Nicole) and Samantha Birli and great-grandmother of Anthony and Maddalina Montagna; cherished daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (nee Longo) Panzica; dearest sister of Nacy Panzica and the late Marina Rinella, Rose DiNatale, Josephine Tagliente and Mary Ann Rinella; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.
Lucy was born on June 28, 1930 in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania and passed away on September 27, 2017. She was a resident of Chardon and a member of St. Mary Church in Chardon for 17 years. Lucy was a friend of Fr. Jay McPhillips of St. Helen Catholic Church in Newbury. She graduated from Union High School in Burgettstown. Lucy was a cosmetologist and worked for Chardon Local Schools in Food Service. She loved to bake for everyone and made the best cookies. Family reunions and ravioli making days gave Lucy the most enjoyment in life. She will be remembered most as a dependable, generous, spunky, unstoppable and spritely woman. Lucy was a friend to all and loved her family. She will be dearly missed.
Lucy’s family wanted to share the following message from her coworkers. “As many of you may know, Lu was much more than an outstanding employee in our school district, she was a friend to all, worked exceedingly well with children, and demonstrated an incredible work ethic. She had a smile for everyone and always found a way to bring out the best in others. Lu was a member of our Nutrition Services team, who most-recently worked at Chardon Middle School. She worked for the Chardon Schools for approximately nine years. Lu’s passing is a true loss to our team.”
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Lucy to American Cancer Society 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106.
