LOUIS MELITO, died one day short of his 99th birthday; beloved husband of the late Katherine (nee LaRocco); loving father of Nanci Meier, Constance Eyman (husband Kurt), and David; devoted grandfather of Nicole, Tony, Alissa, and Cassandra Meier, Kurt C II, Katherine, and Christian Eyman, Joseph, Christina, Marisa, and Emma-Alexa Melito and great-grandfather of 12; cherished son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Melito (nee DiPalmo). World War II U.S. Army Veteran.
Louis passed away peacefully at the age of 98 in the company of his family on November 8, 2021. He was guided into heaven by his beloved wife Katherine of 58 years who proceeded him in death.
Born in New Castle, PA., eventually making his home in Euclid the last 63 years. He was an active member of St. Robert and William Catholic Parish while volunteering for the St. Vincent DePaul food pantry. Louis was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Euclid Veterans Club. He considered himself the self-appointed head of the neighborhood watch.
Louis was a World War II veteran. Fought in Normandy and in the Battle of the Bulge under General Patton’s tank division.
Louis graduated from the Pittsburg Institute of Art where he acquired a unique talent in the advertising and printing industries. He founded MeLitho Print and became an avid sports team backer and heralded many championship softball and volleyball teams. Louis enjoyed painting and woodworking.
Louis is the last of a large Italian family. His family was the center of his life. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for his family. He was the patriarch and served that role very well. Surrounded by his family was his pride and joy…. He enjoyed attending his kids, grandkids’ and great-grandkids sports.
Louie was loved by many and he will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Louis to the Travis Mills Foundation or the Euclid Veterans Club. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday November 13, 2021 at Ss. Robert and William Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Burial following with Military Honors at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Louis at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 4-8 PM.
