Ljubo Kresic

Ljubo “Emil” Kresic, 77, passed away quietly at home on May 29, alongside his family. He was born in Hrasno, Hercegovina in 1939. He was the youngest of nine children to Mato and Andja. He came to Cleveland with his mother and sister, Marija, in 1951.

He was a beloved husband of 53 years to Dunja (nee Tonsic); cherished father to John (Stacy) and Michael; loving grandfather to Stephanie, Jacqueline, Andrew and Natalie; caring brother of Anica Hlosek, Marija Miljak; uncle of Joseph and John Hlosek, Josip Miljak, Tomislav Dujlovic, Ana Cruise, Helen Miocic, Marie Curtis, Jelena Lehner and Angela Dujlovic as well as countless cousins.

He was preceded in death by his dear son, Thomas; his siblings: Spasoje, Ivo, Duro, Tomislav, Matija Dujlovic and Ivka Holik; his nephew, Ivica Dujlovic and his brother-in-law, Aramis Tonsic.

Ljubo was very active in the Croatian community, playing for the American Croatian Soccer Club for many years and serving as treasurer of the St Paul’s Finance Committee for twenty years. He also served as an internal auditor for the American Croatian Lodge “Cardinal Stepinac”. He worked at United Parcel Service for 38 years before retiring. His favorite activities were traveling and spending time with family. He will be greatly missed by all.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Ljubo at the DeJohn-Flynn-Mylott Funeral Home of Willoughby Hills, 28890 Chardon Road (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91), Sunday, June 4 from 2-6 PM. Funeral Mass, Monday, 10 AM at St. Paul Croatian Church, 1369 E. 40th Street, Cleveland (Please meet at Church). Entombment All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
