Lillian was born in Cleveland on February 24, 1924. Her mother, Frances Berna, was a strong woman who loved her children, Lillian and Frank (deceased), deeply. A self-proclaimed tomboy, Lil spent her childhood playing baseball, climbing trees, fishing and getting into mischief with her friends. ‘Diamond Lil’, enjoyed dancing at the Slovenian Hall and attending Slovenian Singing School every Saturday.
Lillian married John, the love of her life, on August 29, 1942. The childhood friends spent many evenings dancing the polka and jitterbug together. They were the proud parents of 4 sons, Roger, Jim, Dennis and Bob. The couple enjoyed entertaining friends, both in Cleveland and in Florida where they maintained vacation homes throughout their marriage. They were married 64 years when John passed away in March 2006. Lil enjoyed cooking, decorating and maintaining an impeccably clean and organized home. Lil left this world, surrounded by family, anxious to go ‘home’ to be with her love, John. They are dancing together again.
