Lillian Ristimaki

LILLIAN E. RISTIMAKI (nee Andelin) age 96, beloved wife of the late Edwin; loving mother of Robert and David (wife Diana, deceased); devoted grandmother of Robert (wife Kimberly), Kirsten Thomas (husband Charles), Liina Harps (husband Jason), Jessica Prunka, and John Ristimaki, and great-grandmother of 10; cherished daughter of the late Toivo and Selma (nee Lehtimaki) Andelin; dearest sister of the late Alan Andelin.

Lillian was born April 16, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio and died peacefully October 28, 2021. She grew up in Youngstown and graduated from East High School. She married Edwin Ristimaki on October 1, 1949 in Youngstown and they moved to Chardon to begin their life together. In June, 1955 they built a home and settled in Hambden Township. Lillian was a proud homemaker and also cared for others’ children in her home. She was involved with Hambden Elementary School PTA, Hambden Little League, and she helped establish the Hambden Elementary School Library.  Lillian and Edwin eventually settled in Orwell in 1999 for the remainder of their lives. Lillian always cared for others. She was determined, sometimes a bit stubborn, and always enjoyed a good cup of coffee. She will be dearly missed by so many.

Celebration of Life Service Friday, November 5, 2021 at 11 AM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial following at Hambden Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Lillian at THE DeJOHN Funeral Home & Crematory of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro) 126 South St.  (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) THURSDAY 5-8 PM.
