Lillian Hill

LILLIAN J. HILL (nee Sworan) age 94, beloved wife for 71 years of the late Edward S.; loving mother of Carol Bernstein (husband Timothy J. Allen) and the late Edward A. DDS (wife Jean) and Cynthia J. Haffey; devoted grandmother of Derek Haffey (wife Rebecca), Jacqui Ward (husband Jeff) and Isaac and Aaron Bernstein; treasured great-grandmother of Elizabeth, Julia, Megan, Gabriel and Henry Haffey; cherished daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (nee Chinsky) Sworan; dearest sister of the late Margaret Zucalis and Andrew Sworan.

Lillian was born on July 14, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan and died on December 30, 2019 in Tuscon, Arizona. She lived in Cleveland for 91 years where she worked for as the manager and secretary of a dental office. Lillian prided herself on being an avid learner throughout her career and took courses in business management. She was involved in the community by running the Home Ceramics Program for her neighborhood and enjoyed making beautiful cross stitch and embroidered pictures. Lillian really enjoyed gardening and had quite the green thumb. She even used violets in some of her cross stitches. Lillian also enjoyed listening to her husband, Edward, play the piano. Her true enjoyment in life came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved seeing them at Thanksgiving and Christmas when she made for them her famous strudel. Lillian will be remembered as being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and for always putting her family first. She will be deeply missed.

Prayers of Christian Burial Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 7 PM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial WEDNESDAY at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Lillian at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.)  TUESDAY 5-7 PM.
