DEACON LEO F. McNULTY, age 72, beloved husband for 50 years of Francine (nee Ranallo); loving father of Scott (wife Donna, nee Previte) and Kelly McNulty; devoted grandfather of Timothy, Daniel, Thomas, John, Margaret, Maria and Melissa; dearest brother of George (wife Peggy), Bill (wife Connie) and Kathleen Dietrich; dear brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and friend of many.
Deacon Leo McNulty was born on June 28, 1943 in Cleveland, OH and passed away on November 28, 2015 at Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He was a resident of Willoughby since 2014, formerly of Mayfield Heights for 46 years. Leo graduated from St. Ignatius High School and attended Ursuline College. Leo proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy Veteran for 10 years. Leo was a faithful parishioner at St. Clare Catholic Church for 30 years where he spent 18 years as a deacon and then transferred to St. Francis of Assisi Church in 1998 where he served as a deacon until he retired in 2011. Leo was a part-time staff member at St. Joseph Christian Life Center from 1986 to 2007 until it closed. He led retreats and healing missions at the center. Leo was a former member of the Mayfield Heights JC’s. He was the owner/operator and president of McNulty Insurance Agency and study for the Deaconate from 1977 to 1980 when he was ordained a deacon.
In his spare time Leo enjoyed golf, reading, fishing, gardening, napping and spending time with his grandkids. He also enjoyed going out to eat with his wife and watching sunsets over Lake Erie with her, too. Leo loved listening to Oldies and Irish music. He will be remembered by his family as being funny, honorable, approachable, friendly and having a great sense of humor. Deacon Leo had great faith and was generous of his time and service to the people, especially to the pastors of parishes in the Dioceses of Cleveland.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Leo’s memory to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110; or to the Gathering Place, 23300 Commerce Park, Beachwood, OH 44122.
The family will receive friends and clergy to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Leo on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 3-8 PM at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON RD. (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91). Prayer and Eulogy Service Wednesday at 7:30 PM. All are welcome to attend Vespers on Thursday, December 3, at 3 PM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 6850 Mayfield Rd., Gates Mills, with Visitation following until 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, at St Francis of Assisi Church at 11 AM, Most Reverend Roger Gries, Presiding. Burial following with Military Honors at Knollwood Cemetery.
