Layne Kendig, Sr.

LAYNE E. KENDIG SR. age 80, beloved husband for 49 years of the late Darling (nee Vadakin); loving father of Layne E. Jr. (wife Marybeth), Kurt P. (wife Shirlee), and Michelle Stufflebeam (husband Brice) of New Plymouth, OH; devoted grandfather of Ashley Burtscher (husband Michael), Alexa Krumpak (husband Matthew), and Brandon, Corey (wife Saissy), Colin, Tim, Allison, and Reggie Kendig, Cole and Erik Stufflebeam and great-grandfather of Julian Burtscher and Rowyn Kendig; cherished son of the late Edward and Edna (nee Hale); dearest brother-in-law of Bill and Donna Vadakin of Aurora; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Layne was born on July 14, 1938 in York Pennsylvania and passed away on July 28, 2018. He was a resident of Willoughby Hills for 26 years, previously Wickliffe for 30 years. Layne was also a proud member of the Whiskey Painters of America and the Ohio Water Color Society. He greatly enjoyed photography and creating art in his free time. Layne also enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening as well as traveling and vacationing with his wife. He loved attending art festivals but most importantly spending time with his family. Layne always looked forward to the holidays with his grandchildren and entertaining others. He was a loving Christian man dedicated to his family and friends. When he was able, he attended Prince of Peace Church in Mentor. Layne will be dearly missed by all.

Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Celebration of Life Service Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 12 NOON at THE FUNERAL HOME. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Layne at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 5-7 PM and SATURDAY 11 AM to 12 Noon.
