LAWRENCE E. FRANEY, passed away Oct. 2, 2017, aged 83 years, beloved husband for 62 years to Joanne (nee Sears), dear father of James (Teresa), Michael, Colleen and Timothy (Sondra), loving grandfather of Keith (Shawna), Douglas (Cassandra), Daniel, Amanda, Michelle, Nathaniel, Christopher (Ashlie), Anissa, Nathan, Tristin and Jonathan, great-grandfather of Camryn, Keira, Elyza, Sloane, Toccoa and Leo, devoted son of the late James and Agnes (nee Maley), cherished brother of the late James, treasured brother-in-law to Jack (deceased) and Patricia Harrison.
Larry was a 1952 graduate of Cathedral Latin High School, a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, and a lieutenant with the Cleveland Fire Department, retiring in 1991.
Mr. Franey was a resident of Lyndhurst for 30 years and was a parishioner at the Church of St. Clare for 5 years. In addition to being a firefighter, Larry was a also a member of the Carpenters Union.
In his spare time, Larry was involved with the American Legion and the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and listening to Irish music. Larry received the most enjoyment in life from spending time with his family.
Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 at St. Clare Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Burial following with military honors in All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute and celebrate the life of Larry at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just East of Green Rd.) FRIDAY 4-8 PM.
