LAUREEN M. “LAURIE” “HOOVER” BRAUN (nee Shaw) age 59, beloved wife of the late Mark; loving mother of Nicholas (wife Hilary) and Lisa (fiancé David Antonelli); cherished daughter of the late Lawrence and Joann (nee Pramuka) Shaw; dearest sister of Susan Berray (husband Jim), Lawrence “Butch” Shaw (wife Michelle), William Shaw (wife Cathy), Nancy Wilson (husband Thomas), Jerry Shaw (wife Linda), Patrick Shaw (wife Kelly), Charles Shaw, Judith Edwards (husband Jim) and the late Richard Shaw (wife Jackie); dear niece, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt and friend of many.
Laurie was born on November 14, 1957 in Akron and passed away on September 4, 2017. She was a resident of South Euclid since 1979, formerly residing in Cuyahoga Falls. Laurie was working on a certificate to become a master gardener and loved to volunteer with kids with mental and physical disabilities. She graduated from high school in Cuyahoga Falls, received her bachelor’s degree from Ursuline College and attended Lakeland Community College to receive her CPA. The Ursuline Dolls, a group of Laurie’s friends from college were very dear to her. Laurie worked for REA & Associates Accounting Firm in Mentor as an accountant. She loved gardening and sewing, especially making quilts. Laurie was an avid reader and a Cleveland fan. She adored spending time with her children and family. Laurie enjoyed listening to oldies, Motown and her favorite song is “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Judy Garland. She will be remembered most as a strong, very loving, very positive, generous and selfless woman. Laurie had compassion for her family and was giving of her time. She will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday, September 11, 2017 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish at 11 AM. Burial following at Lake View Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Laurie at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) SUNDAY 3-7 PM.
