Laura Elisabeth Rowe

Laura Elisabeth Rowe (nee Bush), 61, died peacefully on a beautiful clear morning in Cleveland, Ohio on February 23, 2020. She was born November 11, 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Robert and Harriet Bush. Ms. Rowe graduated early from Mayfield High School with honors in 1977. She went on to earn a B.A. in Interior Design from Miami University of Ohio. Upon graduation she moved to Boston, MA where she met former husband Edward Rowe, with whom she had two daughters, Carlyn and Lisa. Laura was creative, kind and gentle, with an unparalleled talent for gardening and design. She loved her two grandsons, Hayden and Shane, more than anything in the world, and the time she spent with them was most precious to her. She took great pride in the success and happiness of her daughters. She was also an attentive and loving caregiver to her mother, Harriet. She cared about animals and rescued two cats that brought her joy and comfort in her times of pain. Being outdoors with the sun shining on her face was her happy place, and she enjoyed activities like boating, going to the beach and golfing.  

In her career, Laura was most proud of her time spent as assistant coach of the Mayfield High School women’s varsity gymnastics team from 1996-2001. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Carlyn and Chris Reeves; daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Kyle Scanlon; her beloved grandsons Hayden and Shane Scanlon; sister and brother-in-law Linda Bush and Gary Anderson; brother and sister-in-law Erik and Beth Bush; and former husband Edward Rowe. Ms. Rowe was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Harriet Bush, and brother Karl Bush.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Laura to Epilepsy Association of Cleveland (http://www.epilepsyinfo.org/donate.html) in Hayden’s honor. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Laura at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Celebration of Life Service Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 10 AM Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North Street, Chardon, OH 44024.
