Kirk Allen Fry

Kirk A. Fry, 62, of South Euclid, Ohio, passed away August 20, 2023, after a valiant battle with prostate cancer.

Kirk was born July 15, 1961, in Sturgis, Michigan. He spent most of his childhood in LaGrange, Indiana. He graduated from Lakeland High School in 1979 and went on to study mechanical engineering at Cornell University. He was a proud member of Delta Chi Fraternity and a life-long Presbyterian.

He moved to the Cleveland area in January 1984, and only planned to stay for a handful of years. He ended up spending 39 years as a resident of Cuyahoga County. In January 1990, Kirk met Hope (Hart) Fry at Pioneer Memorial Presbyterian Church choir practice in Solon. They were wed in 1991 and went on to have two children, Beth and Colin. Kirk had a 40-year career as a mechanical engineer. He started as an HVAC sales engineer with Gardiner. He later became a licensed professional engineer licensed in 42 states and a LEED Accredited Professional. He finished his career with Osborn Engineering. His fingerprints are all over Northeast Ohio and the United States. Kirk worked on many public and private projects including Kent State University College of Architecture & Environmental Design, Cuyahoga County Public Libraries, Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland Heights Library, various police departments, Cleveland Browns Stadium, Ohio Stadium, Schottenstein Center and many Kohl’s stores across the country. He was proud to mentor the next generation of mechanical engineers.

Kirk loved music, sports, and his family. He sang, played guitar and bass. He was a Purdue football fan and an Indiana basketball fan. After marrying Hope, the Buckeyes became a favorite as well. He was an avid Cleveland (Indians) Guardians, Browns, and Cavs fan.

Kirk was a beloved husband for 31 years to Hope (nee Hart), loving father of Beth and Colin, cherished son of the late Sally (nee Sites) Fry Ashcraft and the late Lowell Fry,  fond step-son of Charles Ashcraft, devoted brother of Kelly Mikesell (husband Kevin), dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
