Kevin Thomas Mckinney

KEVIN THOMAS McKINNEY, age 18; died suddenly at his home on September 17, 2011. He was a devoted and loving son of Marcia (nee Powers) and Douglas; cherished brother of Kyle; survived by his paternal grandparents William and Lydia McKinney of FL, aunt Ramona Surgeon (husband Samuel) of PA, uncle Bruce Powers (wife Marsha) of MD, uncle Randolph McKinney of FL, “aunt” Carole Lyford (husband Steve) and many beloved cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Kendall and Florence Powers and uncle James Glaros.

Born on December 28, 1992 in Seoul, South Korea, Kevin was a 2011 graduate of West Geauga High School and was currently attending Baldwin-Wallace College. He gave of his time on a regular basis and was involved in many activities including lacrosse, fencing, National Honor Society and Order of the Arrow. Kevin was a proud Eagle Scout and was most passionate about his church and bible study activities as well as volunteering in his community. He loved culture and international things and anything to do with the Marine Corps. Kevin listened to international music regularly and always enjoyed the international holiday food themes he and his family shared. His family describes Kevin as one of the kindest, most compassionate and helpful people one could know. He was patient, disciplined, and dedicated. He always remained passionate about whatever he committed himself to.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Kevin’s memory to Boy Scout Troop 195, c/o 12670 Chillicothe Road Chesterland, OH 44026.

A Memorial Service to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Kevin will be SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Christ Presbyterian Church, 12419 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, OH 44026. Family will receive friends immediately following the service at a reception in the Church Fellowship Room.
