KATHLEEN TRIPI (nee DiPenti), age 90. Beloved wife for 52 years of the late Phillip. Loving mother of Phillip, Jr. (Patricia), Joseph (Michele, deceased), Gregory (Suzanne), Kathy Fatica (David), Paul (Jayna) and Robert (Diana). Dearest grandmother of 17, and great-grandmother of 17. Cherished daughter of the late Michael and Aurel DiPenti (nee Gearing); Dear sister of Michael (wife Dian) and the late David; Treasured sister-in-law of Rosalie Vantusko and Martha Tripi; Dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Kathleen “Kitty” Tripi was born in her parents’ home in Little Italy on August 15, 1928 and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 10, 2018. She grew up in several locations on the east side of Cleveland until her family purchased their first home in Mayfield Heights, where she attended and graduated from Mayfield High School in 1946. She then attended Dyke and Spencerian College, after which she worked for Nash Automobiles. She married Phillip in 1952, and then moved to Lyndhurst where they raised their six children. She embraced and loved family gatherings, and especially cherished holidays and special occasions. When not busy managing the household, she assisted her husband with his law practice. She and Phillip were avid Bridge and Pinochle players, played in two bowling leagues, and were active members of Berkshire and Aurora Country Clubs. They traveled the United States on yearly camping trips with their young family, covering 46 states. They then spread their wings and traveled to more than fifty countries on six continents. She loved to end her busy day with a good book, sometimes reading two or three at a time. Kitty and Phillip were married for 52 years before he passed away in 2005. She remained the guiding figure in her family that grew to include 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She led her large family with grace, wisdom, and eternal optimism. Whether called Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Aunt Kitty, or friend, she cherished her time spent with all. Kathleen will be forever missed.
