KATHLEEN E. EDELMAN, age 73, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from ALS. Beloved wife of the late James “Jim Bob” Kellam; dearest sister of Robert, Karen Edelman Gamber, Mary Edelman Bodmer (husband Ray), and the late Joanne Betley (husband Ted, deceased), John (wife Mary), Richard (wife Barbara, deceased) and James (wife Josephine); dear aunt of 24 and the late David Betley, great-aunt of 40 and great-great-aunt of 6. Kathy was born in Cleveland, OH the 6th child of the late John and Anne (nee Markert) Edelman.
She was a graduate of Regina High School and John Carroll University. She relocated to Gainesville, Georgia with Reliance Electric Company and resided there until her death. She became a “Southerner” and had no desire to return to the cold winters she left behind. She had many good friends and neighbors who with kindness supported her through her illness, especially Bob and Cathy Hollis and Bonnie Noble. Kathy was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Georgia and her faith was precious to her. The Edelman family (all 100+) would like to thank the Hospice of Northeast Georgia and Griswold Home Care especially Joyce Gardner for their excellent care extended to Kathy. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Kathy’s memory to St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6850 Mayfield Rd., Gates Mills, OH 44040 or to Hospice of Northeast Georgia, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Gainesville, GA 30501 or the charity of your choice. When you think of Kathy, lift a glass of vodka and amaretto in her memory.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 10 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. The family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Kathy at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) THURSDAY 4-8 PM.
