KAREN M. WEISS (nee Kilroy) age 78, beloved wife for 46 years of Dale P.; loving mother of Teresa M. and Christopher J. (husband Tyler L. Groll); devoted grandmother of Breanna, Cassidy, Zachary, Monterio, Giavonna, Kyron, and Jackson and great-grandmother of Kahleah; cherished daughter of the late William E. and Estelle A. (nee Wolanski) Kilroy; daughter-in-law of the late John (Lucille) Ambroziak; dearest sister of Patricia A. (William) Stewart-Johnson, JoAnn F. (Michael, deceased) Iacofano, and William E. (Rita) Kilroy; sister-in-law of Daniel (Cheryl) Ambroziak, Lori (James) Miller, and the late Roberta Beebe; dear aunt and great-aunt of many.

Karen was born on October 3, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away on May 17, 2021 with family by her side. She was a resident of Chesterland, Ohio for the past 41 years and attended St. Anselm Catholic Church. She graduated from Villa Angela High School and continued her education at St. John College of Cleveland, from which she received her Master of Science in Education. She was a Notre Dame Postulant and went on to teach for both Richmond Heights and then the Cleveland Police Academy. Karen then became a proud officer for the City of Cleveland Police Department and dedicated 25 years to her city before retiring. In her free time, she enjoyed a fully booked calendar of events with friends, traveling, and going on cruises. After retirement she joined the Red Hat Society, became involved with the Richmond Heights Retired Teachers group, with whom she met with once a month on a Friday to catch up, playing mahjong on Tuesdays with friends, and country line dancing with her husband and others. However, time spent with her family was her favorite. She loved spending the holidays together, especially everything leading up to Christmas. She truly made it the most wonderful time of the year. In the summer months she would host clam bakes and family reunions at her home. She was the jovial life of the party and always made you feel welcome. Karen’s infectious laughter will be dearly missed.

Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, May 22, 2021 at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 12969 Chillicothe Rd, Chesterland, OH 44026, at 10 AM.

Burial following at All Souls Cemetery.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Karen at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.)  FRIDAY 4-8 PM.
