Karel Jelinek

KAREL A. JELINEK age 80, beloved husband of Eva (Nemcik) (nee Holota) and the late Hana (nee Smardova); loving father of Karel Jelinek (wife Tricia), Daniel Jelinek (wife Leslie) and step-father of Thomas Nemcik and Livia Hall;  devoted grandfather of Lukas and Helene Jelinek and step-grandfather of Baxter and Arianna Ross, Andrew and Alex Meyer.

Karel was born on November 30, 1935 in Prague, Czech Republic and passed away on March 28, 2016. He was a resident of Kirtland for the past 16 years, formerly of Chagrin Falls. Karel was a parishioner of St. Noel Catholic Church for 16 years. Karel and his family escaped from communist Czechoslovakia in 1968 and eventually settled in Middletown, OH. There he raised his family and became engrained in community life through youth soccer and baseball. Karel was an accomplished mechanical and environmental engineer, loved the outdoors, and got to travel the world. He loved and was very proud of his family. He also greatly appreciated the freedom and opportunities provided in the United States. Karel was a great story teller and had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will be with us always.

Cremation by DeJohn Crematory. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, April 7, 2016 at St. Noel Catholic Church 35200 Chardon Rd Willoughby Hills, OH 44094 at 10 AM. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Karel in the Narthex of the church, THURSDAY MORNING 9-10 AM. Private burial at Woodside Cemetery in Middletown, OH. Family will also receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Karel at Brietenbach Anderson Funeral Home, 517 South Sutphin St, Middletown, OH on FRIDAY, APRIL 8, 2016 from 5 – 7 pm.
