Joseph Yuhas

JOSEPH “JOE” J. YUHAS age 56, beloved father of Nicole Furman (Brian), Joseph Yuhas, and the late Danielle Yuhas; devoted grandfather of Ian, Sydny, and Asher Furman; cherished son of Jamal C. (nee Owen) and the late Julius J. Yuhas; dearest brother of Nick (Mary Kay), David (Gretchan), and Joy Yuhas-Slates (Dan); dear uncle of Grace, Danny, Gavin, Griffin, Kathryn, and Lauren. U.S. Army Veteran.

Joseph Yuhas was born on January 8, 1962 and grew up with his family on the East Side of Cleveland. A lifelong resident of the city, he graduated from St. Joseph’s High School where he excelled as a Gold Gloves Boxer and tennis player. Following high school Joe proudly served in the United States Army where he was trained as an Airborne Ranger.

Joe was a man of many talents and showed his passions through his love of cooking, painting, gardening, and music. Often, he would spend much of his time in the kitchen cooking for his family, radio blaring, singing along to his favorite songs. Or, taking inspiration from sunrises, sunsets, or photos of flowers moving him to sketch the scene at hand. He was full of life, traditionally portraying Santa Claus at family holiday party’s ensuring all of his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews held onto that belief for as long as possible.

Joe’s passions transcended to sports as an avid fan of The Ohio State University, the Miami Dolphins, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. An avid reader, he would always have a Michael Crichton or Stephen King book nearby. Joe was a loving father, grandfather, brother, son, and a good friend. He would give you the shirt off his back, never ask for anything in return, and still come back to lend a hand when asked. His smile would light up a room and he will be sorely missed.
