JOSEPH W. NUCCIO, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2019. Joe was born to Peter and Antoinette (nee Minute) on August 2, 1927 in Cleveland Ohio and graduated from Collinwood High School. A proud WWII U.S. Navy veteran, Joe built his family home in Mayfield Heights where he lived for 60 years. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Clare and later St. Francis of Assisi Church. Joe was a dedicated and hardworking Otis Elevator adjuster for Local Union #17 for 42 years and a mentor to countless Otis guys. Many called him “Mr. Fixit” for his innovative abilities to build and fix anything for his family and friends. Always the life of the party, Joe was known for his sense of humor and love for music and dancing. He could water-ski barefoot, enjoyed flying in his son’s airplane and was passionate about cars – especially his Cadillacs. Joe enjoyed being surrounded by his kids, grandkid’s, eating Italian food and anything dark chocolate, hosting Superbowl parties, being outdoors and going on family vacations, especially his travels to Italy, London and Paris. Joe was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and season ticket-holder. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. The twinkle in his eye, his bright smile and memorable laugh will be sincerely missed and fondly remembered by all those who loved and admired him.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Katherine (nee McDonald); sister Carmella Mansfield (husband Walter, deceased); brother Anthony (wife Peggy); daughters Cynthia Krause (husband Dale) and Holly Sanchez (husband Daniel); sons Lt. Col. Jeffrey (wife Katherine) and David; grandchildren Gina (husband David Moak), Hannah Buffington (husband Brien), Adam Krause, Morgan Krause and Julianna Sanchez; great-granddaughter Lucca Maria Moak; and brother-in law Robert McDonald (wife Patricia). Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Peter, Sr. and Antoinette (nee Minute) and his brother Peter, Jr.
