Joseph Matejka was born on September 1, 1938 in Cleveland, OH and passed away peacefully on April 11, 2021.  He was a resident of Wickliffe for the past 55 years.  He graduated from Benedictine High School in 1956, where he played clarinet in the marching band, and remained an active member of the Benedictine Alumni Association and Benedictine Boosters. He was very passionate about Catholic Education, supporting Benedictine High School, Notre Dame Academy, St. Ignatius High School, and John Carroll University. He was also passionate about the Cleveland Indians, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Benedictine Football.  Special events that Joe enjoyed during the year included Christmas, cutting down their Christmas trees, time spent visiting out of town family, and attending grandchildren’s activities. Joe is described by his family as hard working, loyal, honest, gentle spirited, charitable, faithful, friend and warm with a warm smile.  He will be missed by many.
