Joseph Leonetti

JOSEPH C. LEONETTI, born on June 18, 1931 in Cleveland and passed away peacefully on February 27, 2016. He was the beloved husband for 52 years of the late Sandra (nee Lawrence); loving father of Peter (wife Karin) of Powell, Ohio, Kristy Camino (husband Domenic), Betsy Anness (husband Tom), and Julie Leonetti Hawrylo; devoted grandfather of Kaitlin, Peter, Jenna, Domenic, Luke, Julia, Isabel, Cecilia, Hope and Ariel; cherished son of the late Salvatore “Sam” and Fortunata “Fannie” (nee Virzi); dearest brother of Diane Thomas (Charles) of Newbury; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Joseph was a resident of Concord Township for 10 years, formerly of Deltona, Florida. He graduated from John Adams High School in 1950, the University of Notre Dame in 1954 and completed his masters at Western Reserve University in 1957. Joe was a U.S. Army Corporal stationed in Germany from 1954 – 1956. He worked as a Principal, teacher, and counselor for many years. He started as a teacher at Brush High School in 1957 and became Principal in 1972 where he remained until retiring in 1992. Joe was a three sport Letterman in High School and played baseball at Notre Dame. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, politics, being a sports fan and was an avid golfer. Joe cherished being with his family. He will be remembered by family and friends as a selfless, generous, and optimistic man. Joe was devoted, humble and always had a positive outlook on life. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

Prayers of Christian Burial SATURDAY March 5, 2016 at 1 PM at THE FUNERAL HOME. Burial following with Military Honors at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Joseph at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATIONS CENTER OF CHESTERLAND 12811 CHILLICOTHE ROAD (Rt. 306, just south of Mayfield Rd.) SATURDAY MORNING 10 AM – 1 PM.
