JOSEPH A. KOZIOL, SR., age 88; beloved husband of the late Wanda (nee Malinowski); loving father of Patrice DeShetler (husband George), Diane Hojnowski (husband Mark), Joseph A. Jr., Cynthia Koziol, Deborah Avalon and the late Ronald; devoted grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of five; treasured son of the late John and Marcella (nee Mihalak); dearest brother of Richard (wife Dolores) and the late Frank, Chester, Edward, Henry, John, Helen Abramowski and Josephine Tollis; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Mr. Koziol died on July 22, 2014 at Country Court Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, OH. He was a resident of Newbury for 40 years after moving from Cleveland. Joseph was a WW II U.S. Army-Air Corps Veteran. He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church where he was an usher, worked on the facilities and helped with Bingo. After graduating from South High School, he worked as a Foreman for Ohio Bell. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns, working in his garden and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be well remembered as a hardworking, gracious and good-natured man.
Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at St. Helen Catholic Church 12060 Kinsman Rd Newbury at 10 AM. Burial following with military honors in Munn Cemetery, Newbury Township.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Joseph at THE DEJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY OF CHARDON (formerly Ritondaro) 126 SOUTH ST. (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) MONDAY 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
