Jr.; cherished brother of Jerome (wife Dora) (both deceased), John (wife Mary Margaret) (both deceased), Frank (deceased) (wife Silvana) and George (deceased) (wife Carol); brother-in-law of Steve and Dorothy Muhic and Mary Muhic (all deceased); dear uncle and great-uncle of many.
Born to Croatian immigrants, and lifelong Croatian supporter, World War II U.S. Army-Air Corp Veteran and POW. Staff Sergeant, Tailgunner on B25J Mitchell “The Big Swing” when it was hit over the Italian Alps, crashed and the crew was rescued and interned. Member of Swiss Internees Association and Caterpillar Club. Retired 1982 from the Cuyahoga County Criminal Courts as Deputy Chief Probation Officer after 35 years of faithful service to the Courts, the County and the Community. Cuyahoga County Bar Association Public Servants Merit Awards Honoree in 1978. Published author and ran Brentar Insurance Agency for 20 years. A hard-working loyal friend to many. Passed away peacefully on June 24, 2013.
Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, June 29, 2013 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 6850 Mayfield Road at 11:30 AM. Entombment following with Military Honors at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Joe at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) FRIDAY 3-9 PM.
