It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joseph T. Bukvic announces his passing on August 21, 2024, at the age of 90. He was born on February 28, 1934, in Cleveland, the fifth of six children, to Andrew and Mary Bukvic. He attended West Technical High School and enlisted in the Army at the age of 17. He served three years, including one year as a Korean Combat Veteran, being awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Joe spent 44 years working in the Steel Service Center Industry, the last 16 years as a local Branch Manager for Combined Metals.
Joe married Audrey Marie Weir in 1956, and they were the loving, guiding influence in raising their four children. He cherished family, holiday gatherings (insisting on "I'll take a dry piece" after all the candles were blown out on a birthday cake!), and playing pinochle. His care for his wife Audrey during her last years of life was an incredible display of love and devotion. Joe's gentlemanly way, kindness, generosity, and unselfish life example were a lesson for us all, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His nickname of "Easy Rider" was a true testament to his character.
Joe is survived by his children; Tom (Judy), Jim (Camille), Joe (Sharon), and Mary Therese Voracek (Ralph, deceased/Duane); grandchildren Megan Moody, Tommy (Maddy), Kerry Bossard (Casey), Brett (Christina "CJ"), Danielle Ellerhorst (Andrew), Kristin Voracek, Jamie D'Andrea (Joey), Joseph Voracek (Mary), and Jake Corr Bukvic; and great-grandchildren Audrey, Christopher, Quinn, Cash, Cruz, Eloise, Amelia, Georgia, Natalie, James "Ford," Anthony, Josephine "Josie," Penelope "Pippa," Franco, and Ben.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Audrey, parents Andrew and Mary Bukvic, siblings Ann "Rusty" Triantos, Rose Dumperth, Andy Bukvic, Steve Bukvic, and Edward Bukvic; grandson Ryan Sweesy and son-in-law Ralph Voracek.
