JOSEPH F. BUERGER age 91, beloved husband for 18 years of Nancy (McKenzie) (nee Boyd) and the late Ann (nee Polson); loving father of JoAnn Weinpert (husband Joseph), Michael (wife Louise), Sandra Frank (husband Kenneth), Joseph (wife Sharon), and Robert (wife Fay); fond step-father of Laurie Walker (husband Edward), David McKenzie (wife Lydia), and Karin Baker (husband Dale); devoted grandfather of 8, great-grandfather of 16, step-grandfather of 5 and step-great-grandfather of 1; cherished son of the late Joseph and Ethel (nee Kirkpatrick); dearest brother of Donna Kramasz (husband Chester, deceased); dear uncle and great-uncle of many. U.S. Marine Corp Korean War Veteran and served at The Battle of Chosin Reservoir.

Joe was born in Latrobe, PA on April 13, 1930 and passed away peacefully on June 7, 2021.  He was a resident of Wickliffe, and prior to that, Cleveland.  His family came to Cleveland in 1935 where he attended Cathedral Latin High School and John Carroll University.  Joe was a supervisor for Ford Motor Company, as well as a football coach and defensive coordinator at John Carroll University. He was a football fan who also enjoyed classical music.  Joe was a member of Body of Christ Community, and he was an active member of the Lake County Marine Corps League, VFW in Eastlake, Post 3863, the Korean War Veterans Organization, and the American Legion. His family describes Joe as a strong, tough Marine.  He was quiet with a quick wit and sense of humor.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Joe to Toys for Tots. Celebration of Life Service Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 6 PM at THE FUNERAL HOME with Military Honors. Cremation following by DeJohn Crematory. Burial will take place at a later date at Knollwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Joe at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) SATURDAY 2-6 PM.
