JOSEPH C. BRENTAR, JR. age 56, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 16, 2017 after a brave and courageous 5 year battle with kidney cancer. Most cherished son of Ann B. (nee Muhic) and Joseph C. Brentar, Sr. (deceased); beloved brother to Joanne B. Hottois (husband John Peter) and Gerald C. Brentar whom he held in high esteem during his illness.
If you loved and cared for Joey, he knew it and never forgot you. His generosity and sharing were awesome among others and the children of Make-A-Wish Foundation will enjoy his efforts. If you really knew Joey, you were fortunate. He had a zest for life and was a fighter to the end. He was proud of his Croatian Heritage. He took the most joy in spending time with family and friends, while he also loved traveling, especially cruises.
Joey is also survived by Aunts and Cousins of the Brentar and Muhic families, and was loyal to countless friends including the Glynos family; and all who loved and supported him during the struggle with his illness. Joey was a selfless person who despite his illness always thought about the other person before himself. He was a creative outgoing person who “lit up the room”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church at 10 AM. Entombment following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Joey at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) TUESDAY 2-8 PM.
