JOSEPH A. BECHTOL age 90, beloved husband of Phyllis E.; loving father of Patricia Kline (husband Regis) of North Carolina and Peggy Flanigan (husband James) of North Ridgeville; devoted grandfather of Regina Bostic (husband Michael), Joseph Kline (wife Amy), Jamie Sado (husband Brad), Robert Flanigan (wife Amy) and great-grandfather of Emerson, Michael, John, Thomas, Steven, Addison and Tyler; cherished son of the late Joseph and Mabel (nee Dayton); dearest brother of the late Dr. Ernest O.D. (wife Martha, deceased), Marian Schmitt (husband Peter, deceased), and Robert (wife Ellen, deceased); dear uncle and great-uncle.
Joseph was born on May 22, 1922 in Willoughby, Ohio and passed away on August 17, 2012 in Vass, North Carolina. He graduated from Willoughby High School in 1940 and attended Case Western Reserve University. Joseph was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran serving with the 199th Anti-Aircraft Artillery. He worked in Building Operations for Kennametal, Inc. in Willoughby, Ohio and Latrobe, Pennsylvania and then as a Building Operations Manager with Pittsburgh National Bank in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania until retirement in 1986. Joseph was a member of the Elk Club in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and the Lions Club in Vass, North Carolina. He loved golf, bowling, boating and woodworking. Joseph will be remembered by family and friends as a fun loving, dedicated, hardworking man who was a loyal family man. He loved his family, was a patriot and proud to be an American. Joseph had a sense of humor and was very social. He will be greatly missed.
