JOSEPH W. BAXTER, age 90; beloved husband for 48 years of Joyce S. (nee Schaefer); loving father of Brian (wife Victoria) and Jaime (Young) Bloom (husband Rick); devoted grandfather of Abbie, Jake and Luke Young and Alexandra; cherished son of the late John and Katherine (nee O’Meara); dearest brother of Mary Jane Straub, twins James and Jack Baxter and the late Katherine DeRuzza; dear uncle and great-uncle of many.

Joe was a World War II U.S. Army-Air Corp Veteran. He was a resident of Beachwood for 6 years after moving from South Euclid where he resided for 40 years. Joe was a long time parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Margaret Mary Church and, more recently, a parishioner of St. Clare Catholic Church. He graduated from Harrison High School in New York and attended IONA college for 2 years. Joe went on to work as an accountant at Picker for 42 years until his retirement. In his free time, Joe enjoyed reading, tennis, listening to Big Band music and he loved watching Notre Dame football. His family will fondly remember him as a diligent, loyal, caring, loving, intelligent, compassionate man who was a good friend and always put his family first.

Mass of Christian Burial Friday, February 14, 2014 at St Clare Catholic Church at 10:30 AM. Cremation following by DeJohn Crematory. Burial will take place with Military Honors on Monday February 17, 2014 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Joe at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF SOUTH EUCLID, 4600 MAYFIELD RD. (just east of Green Rd.) THURSDAY 5-8 PM.
