Joseph Edward Balogh

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Joseph Balogh, who was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He passed away on March 23, 2025, at the age of 86, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease, surrounded by his devoted family.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Janet (née Yenulonis); his loving daughters, Donna Harvey, Diane Rodic, and Denise Elias (husband John); and his cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn Elias, Joseph Harvey, and Matthew Harvey. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Adelaide (née Mahon) Balogh; and his siblings Janet Marie Hull (husband Edwin Jr, deceased), Vincent, Reverend Father Donald Balogh, Florence Jean Balogh, and Joanne Mills. Joseph also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who will miss him dearly.

Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Joseph attended Holy Name High School before serving honorably in the Army National Guard Reserves during the late 1950s and early 1960s, demonstrating his deep love for his country. His career began at East Ohio Gas Company where he started as a ditch digger, laying gas lines to expand access to this vital resource across Northeast Ohio. Through hard work and determination, he advanced into the Marketing Department, where he specialized in selling restaurant-grade gas-powered cooking equipment.

Joseph was a man of many passions. He found great joy in golfing with his daughters, nephews, son-in-law, and close friends. He cherished time spent fishing, hiking in the Metroparks with his daughters, and woodworking, crafting countless tables, cabinets, and shelves that will be treasured by his family for generations. One of his greatest joys was country dancing with his wife, a pastime they shared with a cherished group of friends. In their 60s and 70s, Joseph and Janet embraced their "snowbird" years in Venice, Florida, where they built a warm and welcoming community.

Above all, Joseph was a devoted family man. His wife and daughters were the center of his world, and his selflessness, kindness, and unwavering love were evident in everything he did. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special and valued, leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and steadfast faith. His friends will remember his friendly and magnetic personality highlighted with a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit.

Joseph's presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
